VAWA Petition (Violence Against Women’s Act)

If you have experienced serious cruelty or battery at the hands of any of the following, you may qualify for a Green Card under the federal Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

The majority of our clients are victims of domestic violence seeking permanent status in the United States. This visa enables an abused spouse of a US citizen or lawful permanent resident to self-petition for a green card without the abuser's knowledge. It is a critical tool in assisting these victims in leaving abusive settings.

The law offers desperately needed funding for housing, legal aid, alternatives to criminal responses, and preventative programming to survivors, the thousands of neighborhood programs that support them, and communities. Additionally, it adds additional provisions for economic fairness, improves access for survivors of all genders, strengthens anti-discrimination legislation, and establishes a program for LGBTQ assistance.
